Stunning DIY Letterpress Wedding Invitations

From UnderConsideration.com: "My fiancé got me an "L Letterpress/Epic 6" for my birthday in June and I knew I wanted to hand print my invites. The paper ended up inspiring the whole design for the suite and I used white on white blind embossed flowers throughout. This gave me the ability to still print in the one color, but have variation on the design with the blind embossed flowers. Each piece had to go through the press two times, first the flowers with no ink - and then all of the design that is in yellow. The design theme of our wedding is a lot of white on white texture with pops of color, so I wanted to carry that through in our invites. I also got a custom rubber stamp made which I used for the response envelope and return address on the outside envelope."

"Finally, I tied it all together with an ivory ribbon and a little paper disc with our wedding logo. This little disc was die cut and printed all using the little letterpress machine. The logo was printed in a soft blush pink, as a small shift in the yellow/white color palette. Oh! And I sent everything off to a calligrapher in San Antonio, Jennifer Lavin - which added the perfect final touch."

Inspired?  What will you make today with your L Letterpress?

The 5 Most Essential Letterpress Products

Have you ever wondered what tools and products you need in order to get great results with your L Letterpress?  I came up with the 5 products that I think are most useful.

1.  L Letterpress Combo Kit:  This kit includes the Epic 6 die-cutting tool, the letterpress platform, Paper Placement Guides, A2 Letterpress Paper, a small sampling of printing plates, black ink, adhesive, Nesting Circle cutting dies, and an Ink Base/Brayer.

If you already have a die-cutting tool like the Big Shot or Cuttlebug, you'll want to get the Letterpress Starter Kit, which includes everything mentioned before except for the tool.

2. Cleaning Cloths: In my opinion, these are the number 1 necessity when I'm working on a letterpress project.  The last thing I want to do after I'm finished crafting is scrub my tools.  With the Cleaning Cloths, the ink comes off my printing plates and brayer/base very easily.  Read about how they were developed here.

3. Additional Printing Plates: Pictured below is what you receive in the combo and starter kit.  If you look HERE, you'll see a wide variety of printing plates available.  I especially find the 6x6 patterns useful. You can also order a Custom Printing Plate.

4. Ink Guide Strips: Sometimes it can be difficult to get an even print with the smaller letters and words.  With Ink Guide Strips, you'll be sure to get an even print.  All you have to do is place a strip on each side of your printing plate and then simply roll the ink brayer across the plate.

5. Zipper Storage Pack: Storing your printing plates can be a pain if you don't have the right storage solution. They are also great for storing Nesting Dies and other materials.  The also fit perfectly in the All-in-one Storage Binder. Read more about them here.

We hope you find this useful! Before you know it, you'll be making beautiful letterpress projects like these. Do you have any questions about the L Letterpress and how each tool works?  Leave us a comment!
