Christmas Trees Made With the Edge It Kit

We have a fabulous holiday project to share with you today. It comes from designer Shaunte Wadley. These holiday trees are a great way to decorate your home or party.

Supplies needed:
-Fringe edge die from the Edge It Kit (pictured below)
-Nesting Star die
-Hot glue gun
-Cone form (styrofome or whatever your craft store has)
-Bead garland (purchase at craft or dollar store)

Using your fringe edge die, cut out several pieces using cardstock of your choice.  Then, wrap the pieces around a cone form and curl them up.  Be sure to use a heavy duty glue or a hot glue gun. Finish off the tree with some bead garland and a star on top (tutorial below).  Shaunte also used glitter spray to add some bling to her trees. For the base, you can use whatever you would like.  Shaunte created a base with a large scallop and circle (cut with her digital cutting tool).

Shaunte was kind enought to show us how to make the stars that go on top of the tree.  Follow these instructions for perfect, dimensional stars!

1- Cut two matching sized stars from paper of your choosing, using Nesting Stars dies.

2- Using a bone folder, or embossing tool, score the star from tip to center of inside point.

3- Continue to score each point.

4- Fold scored lines up, and towards inside of the star to create a three dimensional effect.

Don't forget that today is the last day to enter last week's giveaway: a dream craft workspace valued at $800!  All you have to do to enter is subscribe to this blog. The winner will be announced sometime this week.

A Christmas Tree with the Nesting Scallops

Today we're switching gears to Christmas!  Believe it or not, it's very easy to make Christmas projects only using Nesting Dies.  Isn't this Christmas Tree made with our Nesting Scallops wonderful? You may have seen it before, but we didn't want anyone to miss out on this fantastically simple idea.  Designer Leah Killian came up with the idea and was kind enough to share her instructions and photos of the process. Thanks Leah!

1. Cut a cardboard base slightly smaller than your largest scallop.

2. Poke a kebab skewer through the center of the base, and secure with glue.

3. Cut 3 of each size of scallop in coordinating scrapbook paper (use a heavier weight paper).

4. Put a small hole in the center of each scallop.

5. Put a dab of glue on the hole before you load them onto your skewer from largest to smallest one at a time- leave a small space between each one.

6. Once you reach the top, use stars from the Basic Cupcake Liner collection glued back to back to cover the tip of the skewer. You could also use a Nesting Star die or Star die.

7. To make larger or smaller trees, just cut more or less scallops. I also inked the edges of my scallops.

The finished product!

Keep in mind that you could use other Nesting Shapes to make this project.  I'm envisioning great things with the Nesting Lace Circles or Nesting Eyelet Circles
