What Caroline Made: DIY Business Cards and Valentines!

Designer Caroline Drake is always up to something fantastic over at Armelle Blog. In true I Made This spirit, she made some adorable Valentines for her son to give out at school. She also made inventive DIY letterpress business cards using the Wintertide printing plate and a custom stamp.

Read about her Pocky Stick Valentines here where she showcases a great way to use the Mini Valentine die. Her post includes a free printable download, so be sure to check it out!

Here are the DIY letterpress business cards she took to Alt Summit.  She printed the cards on our Letterpress Mini Flat Cards and packaged them in a little bag accompanied with some candies. For all the details, check out her post here.

Fun projects, right? Thanks for letting us share Caroline!

5 Ideas for Valentine's Day

1. Decorate your treats!

Valentine's Day is certainly a holiday for treats. Decorate your cupcakes with the Petal Container Die, Heart Punches, and Arrows die.

2. Document your Valentine's Day fun with a layout.

Many of you have the tradition of making cookies on or around Valentine's Day. Document this fun activity with the Sweetheart dies! For a list of products used on this layout, click here.

3. Make a card for your Valentine!

Designer Pam Gandolfi made this card using the Nesting Eyelet Hearts, Nesting Hearts, Arrows, and Espresso (alphabet) dies.

This next card is made with the Floral Doily and I Heart You, and Nesting Rounded Square dies.

4. Decorate with a garland!

This first garland was made using Nesting Hearts and the Banners & Arrows die. The second garland is made by cutting out several Nesting Scallop Hearts and Nesting Hearts and folding/adhering them together for a 3D effect.

5. Deliver some chocolates to a friend!

Using the Bakery Box die, make a darling package to house a few chocolates for a friend. They might love the package more than they love the actual treat!

We hope you've been inspired to create something great for Valentine's Day! What have you been making for this holiday? Please share in the comments!

DIY Silhouette Valentines by Kami Bigler

Design team member Kami Bigler of No Biggie posted a great idea for Valentine's Day and I couldn't help but share it with all of you.  I'm sure these treat boxes were a hit at school!  First, she photographed her kids in the pose she wanted for the silhouette.   After printing/cutting, she used the Rectangle Box die and the Clear Plastic Sheets media, she made adorable treat-filled boxes for her kids to hand out.  Read about her process here and check out the video below.

Using her digital cutting tool, she cut the silhouettes in a large size and mounted them in these vintage thrifted frames!  Great decor for the home and these could easily be personalized for any holiday!

Thanks for the great idea Kami!

How To: Make Your Valentine a Mixtape!

I have a friend who has a tradition of giving her friends a CD with her favorite love songs on it every year! I love this tradition and it's something I look forward to receiving every year. The new CHA release has 2 disc holder dies, which are perfect for a Valentine's mixtape!  This is what you'll need to make yours:

-Disc Case die
-Heart Punches die
-Nesting Eyelet Hearts die
-Nesting Hearts die

Pictured here is the finished product.  I love all of the nesting heart varieties.  You can nest any of them on top of eachother and they look great!

I used the Heart Punches die as confetti for the inside of the box.  A nice surprise for the recipient!

Below that confetti is a disc of great love songs!

Isn't this a fun way to give a simple Valentine's Day gift?  Start making your playlist!
