Stunning DIY Letterpress Wedding Invitations

April 13, 2012 9:06:43 AM MDT

From UnderConsideration.com: "My fiancé got me an "L Letterpress/Epic 6" for my birthday in June and I knew I wanted to hand print my invites. The paper ended up inspiring the whole design for the suite and I used white on white blind embossed flowers throughout. This gave me the ability to still print in the one color, but have variation on the design with the blind embossed flowers. Each piece had to go through the press two times, first the flowers with no ink - and then all of the design that is in yellow. The design theme of our wedding is a lot of white on white texture with pops of color, so I wanted to carry that through in our invites. I also got a custom rubber stamp made which I used for the response envelope and return address on the outside envelope."

"Finally, I tied it all together with an ivory ribbon and a little paper disc with our wedding logo. This little disc was die cut and printed all using the little letterpress machine. The logo was printed in a soft blush pink, as a small shift in the yellow/white color palette. Oh! And I sent everything off to a calligrapher in San Antonio, Jennifer Lavin - which added the perfect final touch."

Inspired?  What will you make today with your L Letterpress?

A Lifestyle Crafts Wedding: Favors

February 10, 2012 11:24:34 AM MST

Today is all about the wedding favor!  We created these personalized favor bags using the Bag die.  We plan to fill these little bags with a sweet treat for the guests to snack on.

This image displays everything you need to make these bags!  The Bag die, cardstock of your choice, labels (printed on my home computer), and ribbon.  You'll also need adhesive to put it all together.

This image displays the shapes cut out with the Bag die.  All that's left is to assemble it all together!

The final product!  These bags are simple, classy, and very easy to make.  You could make a large amount in no time.

Next week we'll show you some of the table details (menu, placecards, ect).  Stay tuned!

Remember part 1 of this series? The fun save the date cards? Check them out here.

A Lifestyle Crafts Wedding: Save the Date Cards

February 2, 2012 9:49:32 AM MST

We've got a wedding coming up here at Lifestyle Crafts! Lucky for us, we have all of the best resources for making beautiful wedding details. This series will feature everything you need to plan a wedding. First up, we tackled the save the date cards. We used the following dies to make these:

-Disc Case (in this case, it's acting as an envelope)
-Nesting Doily Squares (we nested the save the date card on this)
-Nesting Doily Ovals (for the label on the front)

We knew we wanted these cards to be simple because we needed about 100 cards to send out.  The Disc Case die is perfect to house an invitation or card.  When I first saw this die, I didn't think to use it for anything else but an actual disc case. I love the possibilities! After the card was designed, we printed it and mounted it on the Nesting Doily Squares. I love these doily nesting dies for a wedding- I can't wait to use these throughout the whole event!  We finished off the card with a matching label cut out of the Nesting Doily Oval die and a simple ribbon.  I think the guests will love getting these in the mail.

Next week we'll talk about the wedding favors!  Stay tuned.

Crafting Tips: Working with the Box Dies

January 19, 2012 9:24:25 AM MST

We would love to share a tip with you all regarding our box dies.  These shapes are so fun and can be used for all sorts of projects including neighbor gifts, party favors, place settings, or even decor.  You can see our selection of box dies here.  How do you assemble your boxes in a way that they stay sturdy?  We have discovered a  great solution.  When using thinner flimsy paper, you can usually get away with using adhesive. However... If you're using a heavier paper, using a hot glue gun insures that your box will glue together and stay together. Personally, I love the feeling of a sturdy project that I know is going to hold up well.

Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to box up a little treat for a loved one!  Almost any of the box dies would be great for a small gift.

Do you have a go-to box die that you use frequently?
